Blog post 3-Home

I’ve lived in many different homes during my life. We are not Gypsies or vagabonds. We’ve just simply had reasons to move. When I was born we lived in a small town in southern Minnesota. When I was three and a half we moved into an apartment in Wisconsin so my mother could take care of my grandparents who where both ill. The week my grandmother died our Minnesota house sold, so we bought a house in Wisconsin near our grandparents. Four years later we moved to northern Minnesota after my parents divorced. We rented a house for only four months until we found one in the community we where looking to live in. The place we rented had 20 acres so my mother started a hobby farm. We lived there four years then moved to a different farm a few miles away for two more years.

When my mom decided to change careers our next move was to a parsonage. We were there for only one year untell her next assignment took us farther north. This was a spectacular older house that had been redone (picture 1). After one year there my mom decided return to college to get her M DIV and we made the move to Pennsylvania. We moved into a duplex on the edge of campus. Shortly after we moved next door into a single house with more amenities. Both of these are graduate student housing so it was an easy switch.

blog post 1: interview. -Meet Melvin-

Meet Melvin
By Sam Geer

During my brief talk with Melvin I learned quite a few interesting things about my classmate. Having moved to Pennsylvania recently myself I was surprised to learn that Melvin moved here a mere four months ago. Melvin was born in Florida 24 year ago. He has one older brother and two younger sisters.

Melvin is a fan of warm climates but does not shy away from the “cold weather” of Pennsylvania. Being from Minnesota I find this description of “cold weather” amusing. An avid traveler, Melvin enjoys taking hikes in new and interesting places. The hills of Pennsylvania are a favorite of his. During these hikes Melvin loves to watch wildlife, especially the deer. He also mentioned that when he was younger, coloring was a hobby of his. Melvin hopes that someday he will get the chance to travel to Europe and see Spain, Greece and Italy. I imagine he would love to travel to many other places as well, but these were just the ones he mentioned.

Melvin lives on his own and the time not spent exploring is spent either in school or at his job at Wal-mart. Melvin is going to school for a degree in business and hopes to become the greatest HR person of all time! On a side note Melvin is a fan of android devices and is adverse to apple products.

Though I don't consider myself to truly know Melvin, I do wish him the best, and sincerely hope he accomplishes his goal to be the greatest at his career.
